The regional government is currently drawing up a strategy for the logistical development of Castile and León, involving various transport centers, including Burgos Customs, with the aim of establishing a “framework” for this field until 2023. This was stated this morning by the Minister of Mobility and Digital Transformation, José Luis Sanz, during a conference held at the entity’s headquarters, where he highlighted the importance of this sector in the regional economy.

“The objective is to make Castile and León a national and international logistics benchmark,” he stressed in statements to the media, in which he also assured that this sector accounts for 3.6% of the region’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). In this regard, he maintained that the region still has “capacity for further growth,” recalling the latest investments made by the regional government in the Villafría Transport Center, as well as the 21 million euros allocated to the construction of the Technology Park and the three million euros for the Kronospan rail link.

The conference addressed Burgos’ potential in this area, and the mayor, Cristina Ayala, referred to this with the project to expand the Customs Office and improve its connections through the launch of a train to Valencia, for which the City Council has set aside 600,000 euros in its budget amendment. “We want to collaborate in the logistics of our industries so that this rail transport can stabilize,” she said, but not before reminding the central government of the need to reopen the Madrid-Aranda-Burgos line, a demand that was not overlooked by the regional representative.
